I normally build 2-4 outpost when I turtle-boom around my base (I normally don’t have enough resources to build more before the Fortress age). Let’s think it over for a minute, or as us programmers usually say, let’s run a dry test (wet test is when we actually run the application). I have problems if you have 12 towers with the attack of 5 skirmishers+tower attack, rushing will be impossible with those uber towersĭon’t worry, I didn’t really mean it when I said that I will spam you with 12 towers.Īctually, I see that as a waste of resources. BUT it could decrease their attack by half.Īnd you could only garrison 5 military units, and 30 villagers, though only 5 of those villager would be able to fire. well, you get the picture.Īnd they could all keep their fire speed/bonus against other units. Very innovative.Ī villager could fire their blunderbuss, and a skirmisher could fire their rifle, and a musketeer could fire their musket, and a longbowman could fire their longbow, and a crossbowman. Much like a modern machine gun), garrisoned in an outpost would fire his 'swarm' of arrows, whereas a plumed archer (a slow firing, but accurate and powerful archer) garrisoned in an outpost would only fire one, powerful arrow every so often. A chu-ko-nu (repeating archer, fired hundreds of arrows, each doing little damage, in quick succsession. The best bit was when you garrisoned a different kind of archer in the outpost (for example a chu-ko-nu) then their attack would be added. However, skilled players can use that feature and ungarrison their units just before the outpost is destroyed in order to keep their units alive. The ranged units would then still be able to fire at the attackers, and have 100% armor protection as long as they are garrisoned and the outpost is standing.Īgain, if the outpost is destroyed, the garrisoned units will die. I would even go further and suggest that range infantry should also be allowed to be garrisoned in outpost (up to 5 slots). That would make the game even more interesting. Off course that may not work when many units are attacking and the destruction of the outpost would kill the villagers that are garrisoned inside. He can then build one outpost near by, and when rushed by a few units, the villagers can garrison in the outpost and add to its attack. This will allow a player to send his villagers to a more remote areas (take more risk) to collect food from wild animals, or cut wood. Garrisoning villagers in outposts could be a good answer to those quick rushes that sometimes end the game too quickly.
That is too bad, because if garrisoned villagers would add attack to an outpost, then the game would be more tactical. My understanding is that villagers that are garrisoned in a town center add attack to the town center, but they don't add any attack to an outpost.
